E3 2018: XBOX PRESS CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS

X gonna give it to ya Xbox started off with the Xbox E3 2018 Press Conference with the one we were all hanging for... Halo. From there it was 50 games, with 18 exclusives and 15 premieres. The charismatic Phil Spencer kept his word and it was a stellar show. Plus, we were told how 5 studios are becoming part of the Microsoft family. There was chat about how Fast Start will allow us to play our games quicker. Even a tease about the next Xbox. Then the finale' which is all everyone will talk about. Great show. You can check out the highlights below. Halo Infinite Powered by the Slipspace Engine. Jono is crying right now. https://youtu.be/fzwddyOeiXo Ori and the Will of the Wisps More incredible Metroidvania action. GAMES ON THE CHEAP: JANUARY 2018

Games with Gold, PlayStation Plus, Humble Bundle and more Start 2018 off right with some cheap and free game goodness. My pick of cheap games for January 2018 is Batman: The Telltale Series (season 1) as part of this month's PlayStation Plus offerings. This episodic game has you playing in a familiar Batman world, but with unexpected and daring developments of familiar characters. If you want my opinion of the other PlayStation Plus game for the month, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, my recommendation would be to instead play Deus Ex: Human Revolution. I enjoyed Tomb Raider: Underworld on Xbox 360 back when it came out. Not sure if I could go back though after the latest two stellar Lara Croft games. At the very least it shows the growth and evolution of the storytelling and style of the series. PlayStation Plus members are also getting another VR game, Starblood Arena. Check out the trailer for it here: https://youtu.be/EZr0NiFbEaY Here are the GAMES ON THE CHEAP for January 2018 Xbox Games With Gold Out from the 1st The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing III - Xbox One Tomb Raider: Underworld - Xbox 360 Out from the 16th ZOMBI – Xbox One Army of Two – Xbox 360 https://youtu.be/pPbNITIasZ4  PlayStation Plus Starblood Arena - PS4 VR Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - PS4 Batman: The Telltale Series - PS4 Sacred 3 - PS3…

GAMES ON THE CHEAP: DECEMBER 2017

Games with Gold, PlayStation Plus, Humble Bundle and more This month it's all about the sweet Humble Yogscast Jingle Jam 2017 bundle. Not only when... ...you buy a $35 bundle, we'll give ALL of the money to charity.... you'll get new games unlocked through December 25th! There are some awesome games in the mix, with an extra game being added every day. Also on PC and at Humble Bundle, is Quantum Break as part of this month's Humble Monthly. Jono really enjoyed his playthough of this game that experimented with crossing TV with a video game. For me, there is nothing of interest over on the PlayStation front. Xbox have a few better offerings, particularly the first 360 game, Child of Eden. Oh, and if somehow you haven't picked up the original, and still incredibly fun, Plants vs. Zombies, EA are giving it away as part of EA On the House. Here are the GAMES ON THE CHEAP for December 2017 Xbox Games With Gold Out from the 1st Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide – Xbox One Child of Eden - Xbox 360 Out from the 16th Back to the Future: The Game: 30th Anniversary Edition– Xbox One Marlow Briggs and the Mask of Death – Xbox 360 https://youtu.be/4rk-nnEJwZs  PlayStation Plus Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition - PS4 Kung Fu Panda: Showdown of Legendary Legends - PS4 Syberia Collection - PS3 Xblaze…

GAMES ON THE CHEAP: NOVEMBER 2017

Games with Gold, PlayStation Plus, Humble Bundle and more November 2017 has a real varied selection of games. With three Humble Bundles going at the moment, along with Humble Monthly, there is a nice selection of games over on that service. For me it's Everything and ABZU that I'm most looking forward to playing as part of the Humble Day of the Devs 2017. I wrote about the super weird Everything trailer a while back, which you can check out here. Any month that has one of my personal favourite games, Tales for the Borderlands, on the list is a good month by me. If you have listened to any of our VERSUS PLAYER podcasts, you are probably like Jono and Jase and are sick of me going on about this game. Just trust me, it's hilarious, stylish and requires no knowledge of the Borderlands franchise to enjoy and understand. One of the best! PlayStation owners in the U.S., Canada and most of Latin America get another PSVR game in the form of Until Dawn: Rush of Blood. For me the pick I'm most curious to play from the PlayStation bunch is Bound, which looks quite unique. EA on the House has the original Steamworld Dig as a freebie again this month. Now I picked this up last month and played through the whole game and give it a huge thumbs up! I found the…

GAMES ON THE CHEAP: OCTOBER 2017

Games with Gold, PlayStation Plus, Humble Bundle and more I need to start with the huge game amongst many solid offerings this month, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. This is a spectacular, albeit weird, action game that was easily one of the best games of 2015. The game allows for what you see in the image above... so it's obviously a must play. Games on the Cheap this month has a surprising PC offering from EA on the House in the form of SteamWorld Dig, the highly acclaimed platform mining adventure game. EA on the House is also giving away the Star Wars Battlefront season pass, although hopefully there are more people playing the DLC on PC than on Xbox One! Over on the Xbox side of things, Xbox One owners can get Gone Home. If you know nothing about this game, keep it that way and enjoy! I'd also recommend playing it with someone close to you so you can speculate through the short story. Here are the GAMES ON THE CHEAP for October 2017 Xbox Games With Gold Out from the 1st Gone Home: Console Edition – Xbox One Rayman 3 HD– Xbox 360 Out from the 16th The Turing Test– Xbox One Medal of Honor: Airborn – Xbox One https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YW7unN7lk3c PlayStation Plus Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain - PS4 Amnesia:…

GAMING WITH THE KIDS: MARVEL HEROES OMEGA

A kid friendly coop action role-playing game with Marvel characters Marvel Heroes Omega is a third person isometric game in the vein of Diablo, with a whole heap of playable (and even more non-playable) Marvel characters. It has recently been released on console after being around of PC for a while. This right here is pretty much the definition of a gaming with the kids game. It has cooperative play, no camera to worry about, the controls are simple, it has flashy attack animations, it's not too hard, there is fun dialogue and there are all the Marvel characters that your kids will be familiar with, along with all the more obscure ones (aka: non-Marvel Cinematic Universe characters). Oh, and it's free to play. While Marvel Heroes Omega is classified as a MMO, there is no worries about voice chat unless you choose it. Also, having other players run around the world makes the game easier. For my kids, it doesn't get much better than when there are multiples of the same character fighting right along side us. There have been plenty of "Go Hulks!" cried out. Giving a helping hand One of my favourite things to do when playing Marvel Heroes Omega with my kids either playing or watching is to ham up the on-screen dialogue in true Marvel comic fashion. If…

E3 2017: XBOX PRESS CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS

Project Scorpio is Unveiled as Xbox One X The Xbox 2017 E3 Press Conference started off with what we all love most about E3... new hardware! Phil Spencer walked on stage with applause and cheering appropriate for the champion that he is. Every time he came back on. During the conference 42 games were shown, with 22 games with console exclusivity on Xbox One. This was an E3 Press Conference done right. Microsoft pumped the games out and it was glorious! Also, original Xbox backwards compatibility for Xbox One! Probably the biggest cheer of the show. Oh, and updates to existing games so they look and play better on Xbox One X. This was a show and a half. Bravo Microsoft! Below are my highlights of the show, which really was the whole thing... Xbox One X The most powerful console ever made. Not only will this beast of a console make games look better on a 4K TV, it'll boost games on standard 1080p TVs. Microsoft went through all the impressive specs of the Xbox One X console, including the fact that it's the smallest Xbox ever. https://youtu.be/g-gp-Voq6MQ Forza Motorsport 7 As expected, a new Forza Motorsport is on the way. Also as expected, there was a car on stage. I'm not a car person, but I just love how this has become a…
