E3 2018: NINTENDO DIRECT HIGHLIGHTS

I love me a Nintendo Direct. Keep on keeping on Nintendo. During the E3 2018 Nintendo Direct, lots was shown, with something for all Nintendo fans out there. In true Direct fashion, a few games were only given a little bit of time, with a deep dive into one. Check out the clips below: Daemon X Machina A super stylish trailer showing some heavy metal Transformers inspired (but let’s be real, it really is just Transformers) action. This one has Jono written all over it. https://youtu.be/cxPlBdk4HXY Xenoblades Chronicles 2: Torna - The Golden Country Looks like more of what fans of the series are after. Not my thing but you do you! I hope they do another edition of this game one day and further add to the title. https://youtu.be/-EP6XV1BmOk Pokemon Let’s Go Reggie showed off the game and chatted about it, including the Pokeball Plus. Super Mario Party Play with multiple Switch screens for some of the mini games. Hmmmm. I could use a second Switch. https://youtu.be/7pu9t5AL1Ss Fire Emblem: Three Houses A clip showing off story beats and game-play. Another that’s not my thing, but for those who are into the series, please to enjoy! https://youtu.be/rkux5h0PeXo Fortnite So do I need to say anything? It’s Fortnite. On Switch. Out now for free. I did chuckle at the "for free" business. I know…

IMPRESSIONS: THINK OF THE CHILDREN

Ready! Set! Parent! Think of the Children is a couch co-op game that will make you never want to have kids. Unlike other games that have inspired it, like one of our favourites Overcooked, it allows for online play. It also has one of the best Steam descriptions out there; Little Bobby’s chasing a feral dog, the BBQ’s on fire, Jen’s eating poisonous berries and the birthday cake still needs icing. It’s just another wonderful day with the kids so... Ready! Set! Parent! This sums up the game wonderfully. In Think of the Children, you play as a parent who is trying to stop a bunch of kids from getting into danger and killing themselves, all while you are carrying out a bunch of tasks. These tasks include setting a picnic table, building a sand castle, putting up a piñata and more. The game was created by Jammed Up Studios, an Australian game studio, at a 48 hour Game Jam and is currently undergoing polish before it is released. It will be published by Surprise Attack Games, an Australian indie games label. First it will be released on PC via Steam and The Humble Store and then it will be ported to consoles. https://youtu.be/IM0iN3UTQmw Not safe for children At the IGN Select Awards 2016 and RTX Sydney 2017, there were two stages on offer. The first, shown below, had…

IGN SELECT AWARDS 2016

More than just an awards show On Friday 3rd February, we had the chance to go to the IGN Select Awards 2016 at the International Convention Centre, Darling Harbour (Sydney, Australia). At the IGN Select Awards 2016, attendees had the chance to play many of the nominated games. These included Doom, Uncharted 4, Inside, Call of Duty and more. There were also a few unreleased titles, the most well known of the lot being For Honor and the new Tekken. There were also a bunch of unreleased indie games. This is where we found our next Overcooked, the aptly titled Think of the Children. Besides the awesome company, playing this gem of a game was our highlight of the IGN Select Awards 2016.  And the Winner Is... https://youtu.be/3qGgvQeVqwA Best Visual Design: Uncharted 4 Best Audio: Battlefield 1 Best Game Design: Overwatch Best Storytelling: Uncharted 4 Best Online: Overwatch Best Original Game: Overwatch IGN Editors Choice: Forza Horizon 3 Game of the Year: Uncharted 4 You can listen to us talk about the IGN Select Awards 2016 on our latest podcast, IGN Select Awards and RTX Sydney Weekend. XBOX COUNTDOWN SALE WEEK 2: OUR PICKS
Overcooked is well done

XBOX COUNTDOWN SALE WEEK 2: OUR PICKS

Overcooked, DOOM, Tomb Raider and more slashed When there is a digital sale that's worthy of your time, we want to let you know. The first week of deals brought some really solid deals. The Xbox Countdown Sale week 2 is now on. It finishes on the 9th of January, so grab a bargain while the going is good. https://youtu.be/rj-LklE3Sqc For me, week 1 of the deals meant finally purchasing The Witness, which I am absolutely loving, and Jase's recommendation, Firewatch. This second week has some good deals, but more so on full retail type games. VERSUS PLAYER's top pick of the Xbox Countdown Sale week 2 would have to be Overcooked. Jono and Jase had this game in their top 3 games of the year. You can listen to our GOTY Roundup, Ya Filthy Animal podcast to hear why we all love the game so much. I'd also recommend DOOM, which I gave an honourable mention to for making you play so aggressively, rather than the standard hide until your health revives. Jono would tell you to pick up XCOM 2, which was one of his top 3 games of 2016. Again, there are games on sale on the Xbox 360 side of things as part of the Xbox Countdown Sale Week 2 as well. Assassin's Creed Rogue, Catherine, Ducktales: Remastered (in my top 3 of old games played in 2016), GTA:…
