46: CATCHING UP ON 2019

The Jase is away, the Halo we play. Join Jono and Joe as they catch up on lots of gaming stories from the first quarter of 2019. As it's been a while since our last podcast, there is plenty to talk about, including Halo news, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Apex: Legends, Crackdown 3, Tetris 99, Kingdom Hearts 3, Just Cause 4, Game Pass, Evangelion and more. The guys also gush over Dropmix (late to the party, but wow!) and end the podcast with a brief spoilerific chat about Captain Marvel.

GAMING WITH THE KIDS: MARVEL HEROES OMEGA

A kid friendly coop action role-playing game with Marvel characters Marvel Heroes Omega is a third person isometric game in the vein of Diablo, with a whole heap of playable (and even more non-playable) Marvel characters. It has recently been released on console after being around of PC for a while. This right here is pretty much the definition of a gaming with the kids game. It has cooperative play, no camera to worry about, the controls are simple, it has flashy attack animations, it's not too hard, there is fun dialogue and there are all the Marvel characters that your kids will be familiar with, along with all the more obscure ones (aka: non-Marvel Cinematic Universe characters). Oh, and it's free to play. While Marvel Heroes Omega is classified as a MMO, there is no worries about voice chat unless you choose it. Also, having other players run around the world makes the game easier. For my kids, it doesn't get much better than when there are multiples of the same character fighting right along side us. There have been plenty of "Go Hulks!" cried out. Giving a helping hand One of my favourite things to do when playing Marvel Heroes Omega with my kids either playing or watching is to ham up the on-screen dialogue in true Marvel comic fashion. If…

BEST OF THE WEB: GEEKTYPER

Live out your haxor fantasy with GeekTyper GeekTyper is what I love about the Internet. It's a browser based hacking simulator that you can use to make it seem like you are a programmer hacking into a computer system. It's pretty much like you see in TV and movies. While it's not something you'll spend too much time mucking around with on your own, the fun really is in tricking family, friends and strangers. Pop it in full screen mode at the local library and freak everyone out (you probably shouldn't do that). There are a whole bunch of themes you can set, including SHIELD, Umbrella Corp, Aperture Science, Black Mesa, the Matrix, NASA, Anonymous, Microsoft Word, HE-MAN and more. You can check out GeekTyper here. You too can have mad two person on one keyboard haxor skillz, just like the crew in NCIS: https://youtu.be/msX4oAXpvUE If my recommendation isn't enough for you, how about one from the D O double G himself. https://twitter.com/fediafedia/status/715828280851607553 Here at VERSUS PLAYER we love everything nerdy and want to share with you some of our favourite things on the Internet. BEST OF THE WEB is an ongoing series where we do exactly that. If you liked this you might like some of our previous BEST OF THE WEB picks, including Mortal Kombat Legacy, I Am Street Fighter and Mineralblu. Happy gaming (and haxoring)!

PLAYSTATION EXPERIENCE CONFERENCE 2016 HIGHLIGHTS

UNCHARTED AND CRASH MAKE AN APPEARANCE ON PLAYSTATION 4 The folks at PlayStation put on one heck of a jam-packed show with this year's PlayStation Experience conference. With about 40 games shown, many for the first time, there was a lot for gamers of all interests. There are ways to watch the whole thing online, but to save you time and from you having to listen to the incessant yelling from one woman who obviously was sitting way too close to a microphone, here are my personal highlights of the show. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy Unmistakably Uncharted from the get go, although the Tomb Raideresque pat down was surely on purpose to try and throw people. Expanding the universe of Uncharted, yes please! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZjx5ao7alw Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite Seeing Ryu and Mega Man going to battle together against Iron Man and Captain Marvel is fan service at its best. This is one of our favourite franchises at Versus Player and we can’t wait! Oh... and Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 is available RIGHT NOW on the PS Store! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpQ_l1XHL_g Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy The fan service continues with a beautiful looking remaster of the three original Crash Bandicoot games. I was kinda hoping for a tease of Crash Team Racing. There is always PSX 2017. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7G91RjVmvk Resident Evil 7: Biohazard Final Demo Another of many AVAILABLE…
