GAMES ON THE CHEAP: JUNE 2018

Games with Gold, PlayStation Plus, Humble Bundle and more So the Games on the Cheap for June 2018 is probably the weakest month we've had in ages. Sure, there are some great games on the list (I'm looking at you XCOM 2) and a massive ARMA Humble Bundle for those who haven't bought it and want to get into it, but most of the games are quite a bit older, with some of the best being those that personally I've bought for a few dollars when they've been on sale in the past. Oh well, here I am complaining about getting MORE games to play :) Seriously though, super hanging out to play XCOM 2 after hearing Jono and Jase rave about it on many a VERSUS PLAYER podcast. Also, any month we get a LEGO game to add to the collection is a good month in my books. I never played the second Indy game in the series, so looking forward to getting my Crystal Skull on. Finally, Trials Fusion is an amazing game. Get it, play it, git gud, then go watch some YouTube videos and see how bad you are compared to some people out there. Seriously, I could try this stage below everyday and not get close to finishing it. Here are the GAMES ON THE CHEAP for June 2018 Xbox Games With Gold Out…

GAMES ON THE CHEAP: MAY 2018

Games with Gold, PlayStation Plus, Humble Bundle and more As an Aussie and someone who owns both a PS4 and Xbox One, this month's Games on the Cheap offerings is a little bit down on previous months. The reason I feel this way is because us Aussies miss out on the Capcom X Sega Humble Bundle and because Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain (Xbox One) and Rayman Legends (PS4) have been offered for free in the past on competitors "freebie" service. That said, for anyone out there who only owns only one of the two platforms, these two games are up amongst the best games of their genres and definitely worth a play (I still play Rayman Legends every few weeks, years after its release). Like I just mentioned, for those lucky enough to be able to access the Capcom X Sega Humble Bundle, it's a no brainer. It has a whole bunch of games worth playing. The game I'm looking forward to trying out the most is Vanquish, which is one of the Xbox Games with Gold backward compatibility offerings this month. Vanquish is a fast paced action game made from Platinum Games, the makers of the superb Bayonetta games. I'm also keen to try out Beyond Two Souls over on the PS4. I loved Heavy Rain, although have heard very mixed things about Beyond Two Souls. Here are the GAMES ON THE CHEAP for May 2018 Xbox Games…

GAMES ON THE CHEAP: APRIL 2018

Games with Gold, PlayStation Plus, Humble Bundle and more While there are a bunch of good games on offer as part of different gaming services, April is overall a pretty slow month. The pick of the lot has to be The Witness as part of Xbox Games with Gold. A very unique, beautiful and difficult game that stumped me on plenty of occasions. I enjoyed both Mad Max and TrackMania Turbo, which make up part of the PlayStation Plus offerings, but with both cases my interest fell off after a while. Over on PC, SUPERHOT is part of the current top tier over at the Humble Indie Bundle 19. An amazing game that we chatted quite a bit about on our latest podcast. Oh, and if you are keen to try Sea of Thieves don't forget that you can get a 14 day Xbox Game Pass trial which includes it (if you do this, don't overlook Sky Force Anniversary. I can't get enough of it!). Here are the GAMES ON THE CHEAP for March 2018 Xbox Games With Gold Out from the 1st The Witness – Xbox One Cars 2– Xbox 360 Out from the 16th Assassin's Creed Syndicate– Xbox One Dead Space 2 – Xbox 360 https://youtu.be/DCGqthzVDBk  PlayStation Plus Mad Max– PS4 TrackMania Turbo– PS4 In Space we Brawl – PS3 & PS4 Toy Home – PS3 99 Vidas –…

GAMES ON THE CHEAP: MARCH 2018

Games with Gold, PlayStation Plus, Humble Bundle and more March is a great month for free, games as part of online services and super cheap games. PlayStation have two big hitters, Bloodborne and Ratchet & Clank for PS4. I've spent a bit of time with Ratchet & Clank and enjoyed it, but not as much as my son did (so a great one for kids). Bloodborne is the one Ben (you've heard him on the podcast) will say is the game of all games this month (and I'd imagine in his eyes it'll be hard to top it for the year). Ben, I might give it a try... What I am super pumped for is SUPERHOT on Xbox One. A unique take on first person combat, SUPERHOT has time move only as you do. Trials of the Blood Dragon is some silly fun, albeit with some frustrating walking sections. Also, Quantum Conundrum on 360 back compatibility is a fun, Portalesque game with some interesting puzzles and great stage design. Oh, and Sea of Thieves comes out on March 20. You can get a free trial of the Xbox Game Pass and try it out there, or subscribe and get access to a heap of games along with it! Here are the GAMES ON THE CHEAP for March 2018 Xbox Games With Gold Out from the 1st Trials of the Blood Dragon – Xbox One Brave – Xbox 360 Out from…

GAMES ON THE CHEAP: FEBRUARY 2018

Games with Gold, PlayStation Plus, Humble Bundle and more So you want to stop reading and go over to Humble Bundle and buy the Rockstar Games Bundle. For $15 you are getting 10 INCREDIBLE games (although us Australian's still miss out on Manhunt). You can see the full list of games in the bundle below. As I never played GTA IV on PC I'm pumped to check out the mod scene. Also, I didn't get to Episodes from Liberty City, which I know Jase will vouch for in a big way. I personally loved GTA Vice City back in the day and found Max Payne 3 to be a fantastic game. Over on consoles, Knack on PS4 is a bit of fun for the kids and Shadow Warrior on Xbox One is decidedly not for the kids, but a bit of fun all the same. I'm looking forward to trying out Assassin's Creed Chronicles: India on Xbox One and RiME on PS4 (this is the one I'll start with from all the picks on offer). Oh, and Ben wouldn't let me live it down if I didn't draw your attention to Humble Monthly, what with Dark Souls III there, plus some DLC goodness to go along with it! A solid month all round. Here are the GAMES ON THE CHEAP for February 2018 Xbox Games With Gold Out from the 1st Shadow Warrior – Xbox One Split/Second – Xbox 360 Out from…

GAMES ON THE CHEAP: JANUARY 2018

Games with Gold, PlayStation Plus, Humble Bundle and more Start 2018 off right with some cheap and free game goodness. My pick of cheap games for January 2018 is Batman: The Telltale Series (season 1) as part of this month's PlayStation Plus offerings. This episodic game has you playing in a familiar Batman world, but with unexpected and daring developments of familiar characters. If you want my opinion of the other PlayStation Plus game for the month, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, my recommendation would be to instead play Deus Ex: Human Revolution. I enjoyed Tomb Raider: Underworld on Xbox 360 back when it came out. Not sure if I could go back though after the latest two stellar Lara Croft games. At the very least it shows the growth and evolution of the storytelling and style of the series. PlayStation Plus members are also getting another VR game, Starblood Arena. Check out the trailer for it here: https://youtu.be/EZr0NiFbEaY Here are the GAMES ON THE CHEAP for January 2018 Xbox Games With Gold Out from the 1st The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing III - Xbox One Tomb Raider: Underworld - Xbox 360 Out from the 16th ZOMBI – Xbox One Army of Two – Xbox 360 https://youtu.be/pPbNITIasZ4  PlayStation Plus Starblood Arena - PS4 VR Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - PS4 Batman: The Telltale Series - PS4 Sacred 3 - PS3…

GAMES ON THE CHEAP: SEPTEMBER 2017

Games with Gold, PlayStation Plus, Humble Bundle and more With Games on the Cheap this month there are a few great somewhat older titles on  Xbox, PlayStation and PC. Infamous, Forza and Rise of the Tomb Raider are the obvious big hitters here. The game I can't recommend enough though is the wonderful Child of Light, a beautiful action role-playing game that deserves at least a try. The title I'm most curious to finally get my hands on is Hatoful Boyfriend, a pigeon dating simulator (nuff said). That and playing through Oxenfree after getting a bit into it on PC and suffering the old too long to go back between play sessions to understand what on earth is going on! Oh, and there is RIGS for those PS VR owners out there as part of the PlayStation Plus offerings. Here are the GAMES ON THE CHEAP for September 2017 Xbox Games With Gold Out from the 1st Forza Motorsport 5: Game of the Year Edition – Xbox One Trials Fusions– Xbox One Hydro Thunder Hurricane– Xbox 360 Out from the 16th Oxenfree – Xbox One Battlefield 3 – Xbox One https://youtu.be/8wPUh3u9J9Y PlayStation Plus Infamous: Second Son – PS4 Child of Light – PS4 RIGS Mechanised Combat League – PS VR That’s You! – PS4 PlayLink Hatoful Boyfriend (PS4 & PS Vita) We Are Doomed (PS4 & PS Vita) Handball…

GAMES ON THE CHEAP: AUGUST 2017

Games with Gold, PlayStation Plus, Humble Bundle and more This month there is something to enjoy across all of the major players. Humble Bundle are killing it with some amazing packages. For those of you who want to get into making games or are interested in having a play around with the source code of some existing games, the The Humble GameMaker Rebundle is a must. The Humble Saints Row Bundle has a whole range of fun games, with some excellent ones at the low price entry fee. For me, any time Bayonetta comes back into the spotlight is a win. I just hope things like this are more steps on the path towards Bayonetta 3. While I hold Bayonetta 2 in higher regard (it's about as perfect as action and controlling gets), the first entry in the series is also tight with the controls and contains incredible action, all thrown together with amazing enemy design. That said, the character herself and the story will not be for everyone. Over on PlayStation, Just Cause 3 is a super fun game that will tickle the fancy of GTA players of old. Just look at the featured image above! Here are the GAMES ON THE CHEAP for August 2017 Xbox Games With Gold Out from the 1st Slime Rancher - Xbox One Runbow - Xbox One Bayonetta - Xbox 360 Out from the 16th Trials…

GAMES ON THE CHEAP: JULY 2017

Games with Gold, PlayStation Plus, Humble Bundle and more This month for GAMES ON THE CHEAP July 2017, PlayStation has come forward with a nice selection of games. This includes the horror hit, Until Dawn, Telltale's Game of Thrones and (the weird) Tokyo Jungle. Over at Humble Monthly, DARK SOULS II: Scholar of the First Sin is this month's known included game. Also, Steam are doing their Summer Sale thing. Way too many deals to mention. Personally, I'm looking forward to playing through Until Dawn and Grow Up, as well as playing LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean with my son. Check out the full list below. GAMES ON THE CHEAP: MARCH 2017

Games with Gold, PlayStation Plus, Humble Bundle and more For me, this is a pretty light month for GAMES ON THE CHEAP. While Civilization Beyond Earth in the the top tier of the Humble Civiliazation Bundle is good value, it's probably a game anyone who has been wanting to play it has already picked up on a sale somewhere. The game I'm most happy for GAMES ON THE CHEAP: MARCH 2017 is Tearaway Unfolded on PS4. This is a game I've been wanting to play with my kids. I'm also super curious to try out the PlayStation Plus game, Disc Jam. Any game that is being compared to Rocket League is worth a try. Here are the GAMES ON THE CHEAP for March 2017 Xbox Games With Gold Out from the 1st Borderlands 2 – Xbox 360 Layers of Fear– Xbox One Out from the 16th Heavy Weapon – Xbox 360 Evolve: Ultimate Edition – Xbox One https://youtu.be/ds5aMX0sNYU PlayStation Plus Disc Jam - PS4 Tearaway Unfolded - PS4 Under Night: In-Birth - PS3 Earth Defense Force 2025 - PS3 Lumo - PS Vita (crossbuy on PS4) Severed - PS Vita https://youtu.be/q8LarSbdp5Q Humble Bundle Humble Monthly – Total War: Warhammer (February.
