E3 2018: EA PRESS CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS

EA kick off E3 2018 EA once again kicked off E3 with the EA 2018 Press Conference. It started off with a cool augmented reality Anthem intro and had many expected games shown, with some surprises thrown in, including cloud gaming running on multiple devices and Origin Access Premier, with everything EA coming to the subscription service. Plus an awesome AVAILABLE NOW moment with the reveal and simultaneous release of Unravel Two (AKA: Yarny and Blue Yarny Adventure). You can check out the highlights below. Battlefield V Big talk about game-play innovations and customisation. The destruction looks epic. Oh, and no loot boxes and no premium pass. Is EA making this game still? And one more thing... Royale (it took way less time than I thought to hear about a game including a Battle Royale mode). https://youtu.be/SWVtV59mczk FIFA 19 With the World Cup a week away, I can't help but be extra pumped for this. Not only was there a look at FIFA 19, but there was also a look at the current FIFA 18 World Cup mode, with a free trial of the game AVAILABLE NOW (I love this sort of thing at E3!). Champions League is the big push for FIFA 19. The trophy was on stage, a nice touch for super fans. https://youtu.be/zX0AV6yxyrQ Origin Access Premier Not a game, but all…

E3 2017: EA PRESS CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS

EA Start E3 2017 off with a bang (and, surprise, surprise, a sizzle reel) The EA 2017 E3 Press Conference delivered some cool trailers and clips. You can watch the whole thing online at a whole lot of places, but I thought I'd trim the fat (I'm looking at you Battlefield 1 community video, FUT Championships clip, Men in Blazers and Need for Speed intro) and put together the highlights of the EA 2017 E3 Press Conference. Actually, besides the fact that fellow Aussie Andrew Wilson started off E3, the trailers, gameplay clips, the mention of free access to many EA services this week and the 30 minutes of Star Wars goodness were really all you'd want to see. Madden 18: Long Shot Long Shot is the single player campaign in Madden 18 (think Alex Hunter in FIFA). https://youtu.be/cBZwjP6MpZo FIFA 18 Ronaldo takes center stage. https://youtu.be/z_7Gz_RFLnE FIFA 18: The Journey More FIFA is pretty much all people are after, but, surprisingly to me, Alex Hunter is making a comeback. https://youtu.be/GbK_Xw5BiSw Need for Speed: Payback Looks like fun! https://youtu.be/K-5EdHZ0hBs A Way Out You had me at "from the makers of Brother's: A Tale of Two Sons". A co-op only, split-screen story based game, yes please! And Josef Fares, THAT is how you intro a game. Enthusiasm, joy, passion and fun. https://youtu.be/yGZGSdgJVPM Project Scorpion Seriously! They showed some screenshots…

NINTENDO SWITCH PRESENTATION 2017 HIGHLIGHTS

Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a launch game! Nintendo just held the long awaited Nintendo Switch Presentation 2017, which was streamed live from Tokyo. It was a presentation that aimed to, and delivered in, providing a detailed introduction to Nintendo Switch hardware and software. There was more details on a lot of information we've seen before, including how the controllers work, the different ways you can play, the features of the unit and multiplayer gaming with the detachable controllers, which we now know are called Joy-Con. Here are my personal highlights of the presentation. https://youtu.be/zw47_q9wbBE Launch information The Nintendo Switch will be available on March 3 2017 in Japan, US, Canada, Hong Kong and other territories at a suggested retail price - USD$299.99 (approx AUD$400... but we'll probably get ripped off like we tend to always do). They said that "generally" they will not apply region locking to Nintendo Switch software. Here's hoping "generally" means they just won't, but we'll have to wait and see. This could have been just a translation difference. As for online, you'll be able to invite friends, set play appointments and chat online via your Smart device. Online on the Nintendo Switch will be free initially, then it will become a paid service (more info to come at a later date). How we got here In one…
