E3 2018: UBISOFT PRESS CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS

You want CG trailers? Ubi have CG trailers The Ubisoft 2018 E3 Press Conference showed once again that Ubisoft are the kings of the CG trailer and that they love animal costumes! Also in true Ubisoft E3 fashion, pretty much everything had someone chatting quite a bit about the game, often complete with some crazy side initiative to go along with it. Check out all the highlights below. Just Dance 2019 Not for everyone I know, but I must say, I enjoy the crazy dance routines every year. A whole heap of songs were teased during the performance. The second trailer below is the song list trailer, which wasn't shown during the conference. https://youtu.be/2tcaIpspTsE https://youtu.be/ukHzIPDORKU Beyond Good and Evil 2 Porko Rosso crossed with Space Pirate Captain Harlock. A very slick CG trailer shown showing off the “space opera”, with a cool reveal at the end of it. Then prealpha gameplay was shown. Starting the show with this has given me very high hopes for the rest of the conference. The game looks incredible. Join the Space Monkey Program, allowing artists across the world to collaborate and contribute to the final game. Joseph Gordon-Levitt was on stage to talk about it as part of his HitREcord initiative. GAMES ON THE CHEAP: JUNE 2018

Games with Gold, PlayStation Plus, Humble Bundle and more So the Games on the Cheap for June 2018 is probably the weakest month we've had in ages. Sure, there are some great games on the list (I'm looking at you XCOM 2) and a massive ARMA Humble Bundle for those who haven't bought it and want to get into it, but most of the games are quite a bit older, with some of the best being those that personally I've bought for a few dollars when they've been on sale in the past. Oh well, here I am complaining about getting MORE games to play :) Seriously though, super hanging out to play XCOM 2 after hearing Jono and Jase rave about it on many a VERSUS PLAYER podcast. Also, any month we get a LEGO game to add to the collection is a good month in my books. I never played the second Indy game in the series, so looking forward to getting my Crystal Skull on. Finally, Trials Fusion is an amazing game. Get it, play it, git gud, then go watch some YouTube videos and see how bad you are compared to some people out there. Seriously, I could try this stage below everyday and not get close to finishing it. Here are the GAMES ON THE CHEAP for June 2018 Xbox Games With Gold Out…

GAMES ON THE CHEAP: APRIL 2018

Games with Gold, PlayStation Plus, Humble Bundle and more While there are a bunch of good games on offer as part of different gaming services, April is overall a pretty slow month. The pick of the lot has to be The Witness as part of Xbox Games with Gold. A very unique, beautiful and difficult game that stumped me on plenty of occasions. I enjoyed both Mad Max and TrackMania Turbo, which make up part of the PlayStation Plus offerings, but with both cases my interest fell off after a while. Over on PC, SUPERHOT is part of the current top tier over at the Humble Indie Bundle 19. An amazing game that we chatted quite a bit about on our latest podcast. Oh, and if you are keen to try Sea of Thieves don't forget that you can get a 14 day Xbox Game Pass trial which includes it (if you do this, don't overlook Sky Force Anniversary. I can't get enough of it!). Here are the GAMES ON THE CHEAP for March 2018 Xbox Games With Gold Out from the 1st The Witness – Xbox One Cars 2– Xbox 360 Out from the 16th Assassin's Creed Syndicate– Xbox One Dead Space 2 – Xbox 360 https://youtu.be/DCGqthzVDBk  PlayStation Plus Mad Max– PS4 TrackMania Turbo– PS4 In Space we Brawl – PS3 & PS4 Toy Home – PS3 99 Vidas –…

GAMES ON THE CHEAP: FEBRUARY 2018

Games with Gold, PlayStation Plus, Humble Bundle and more So you want to stop reading and go over to Humble Bundle and buy the Rockstar Games Bundle. For $15 you are getting 10 INCREDIBLE games (although us Australian's still miss out on Manhunt). You can see the full list of games in the bundle below. As I never played GTA IV on PC I'm pumped to check out the mod scene. Also, I didn't get to Episodes from Liberty City, which I know Jase will vouch for in a big way. I personally loved GTA Vice City back in the day and found Max Payne 3 to be a fantastic game. Over on consoles, Knack on PS4 is a bit of fun for the kids and Shadow Warrior on Xbox One is decidedly not for the kids, but a bit of fun all the same. I'm looking forward to trying out Assassin's Creed Chronicles: India on Xbox One and RiME on PS4 (this is the one I'll start with from all the picks on offer). Oh, and Ben wouldn't let me live it down if I didn't draw your attention to Humble Monthly, what with Dark Souls III there, plus some DLC goodness to go along with it! A solid month all round. Here are the GAMES ON THE CHEAP for February 2018 Xbox Games With Gold Out from the 1st Shadow Warrior – Xbox One Split/Second – Xbox 360 Out from…

VP PODCAST: NOW WITH HIPPO FACTS

The latest Versus Player podcast, Hippos, is up and can be listened to here. Hippo Fact! 2,900 people are killed annually in Africa. They have bad breath and birds help them floss. Also Jono, Jase and Joe record while sitting on the couch as it’s better than Jason’s uncomfortable high chairs. We discuss Assassins Creed Origins, G.I. JOE, Heat Signature and much more. PS: The name hippopotamus means ‘river horse’ and is often shortened to hippo. Happy gaming!

GAMES ON THE CHEAP: AUGUST 2017

Games with Gold, PlayStation Plus, Humble Bundle and more This month there is something to enjoy across all of the major players. Humble Bundle are killing it with some amazing packages. For those of you who want to get into making games or are interested in having a play around with the source code of some existing games, the The Humble GameMaker Rebundle is a must. The Humble Saints Row Bundle has a whole range of fun games, with some excellent ones at the low price entry fee. For me, any time Bayonetta comes back into the spotlight is a win. I just hope things like this are more steps on the path towards Bayonetta 3. While I hold Bayonetta 2 in higher regard (it's about as perfect as action and controlling gets), the first entry in the series is also tight with the controls and contains incredible action, all thrown together with amazing enemy design. That said, the character herself and the story will not be for everyone. Over on PlayStation, Just Cause 3 is a super fun game that will tickle the fancy of GTA players of old. Just look at the featured image above! Here are the GAMES ON THE CHEAP for August 2017 Xbox Games With Gold Out from the 1st Slime Rancher - Xbox One Runbow - Xbox One Bayonetta - Xbox 360 Out from the 16th Trials…

E3 2017: UBISOFT PRESS CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS

Mario at Ubi!? The Ubisoft E3 2017 Press Conference started with one of the most surprising intros to an E3 conference I can remember and a bunch of games that look cool. Really cool. Like, incredible! You have to give Ubisoft one thing, they make amazing trailers. Here are my highlights to the show, which, unfortunately, didn't include a "one more thing" moment that had Aisha Tyler walking on stage. You can't have everything. Seriously though, this Press Conference really had something for everyone. Well done Ubisoft! Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle A Rabbid hitting a Mario question mark block, then eating a mushroom. Right there was surprising enough, but then for the man himself, Shigeru Miyamoto, to walk on stage and talk about the game!?! Oh, then gameplay and it looks as beautiful as you'd hope a 3D Mario game to look! THEN, it plays like XCOM!? With all the humour you'd expect from a Rabbids game. And Princess Peach rescuing herself!? Only at E3. Unbelievable! https://youtu.be/mUI8CttQEHw Assassin's Creed Origins More Origins, with a trailer showing off some impressive animal animations then an extended offscreen gameplay video running on Xbox One X. https://youtu.be/YfaSihDY5wk The Crew 2 Now I want a game with the Inception homage shown in the trailer to actual extend to gameplay. While The Crew 2 isn't this game, the trailer is worth checking…

E3 2017: XBOX PRESS CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS

Project Scorpio is Unveiled as Xbox One X The Xbox 2017 E3 Press Conference started off with what we all love most about E3... new hardware! Phil Spencer walked on stage with applause and cheering appropriate for the champion that he is. Every time he came back on. During the conference 42 games were shown, with 22 games with console exclusivity on Xbox One. This was an E3 Press Conference done right. Microsoft pumped the games out and it was glorious! Also, original Xbox backwards compatibility for Xbox One! Probably the biggest cheer of the show. Oh, and updates to existing games so they look and play better on Xbox One X. This was a show and a half. Bravo Microsoft! Below are my highlights of the show, which really was the whole thing... Xbox One X The most powerful console ever made. Not only will this beast of a console make games look better on a 4K TV, it'll boost games on standard 1080p TVs. Microsoft went through all the impressive specs of the Xbox One X console, including the fact that it's the smallest Xbox ever. https://youtu.be/g-gp-Voq6MQ Forza Motorsport 7 As expected, a new Forza Motorsport is on the way. Also as expected, there was a car on stage. I'm not a car person, but I just love how this has become a…

GAMES ON THE CHEAP: JUNE 2017

Games with Gold, PlayStation Plus, Humble Bundle and more GAMES ON THE CHEAP June 2017 has some great games across all platforms, with a fun freebie thrown in the mix. The one to get this month is Life is Strange on PS4. With the recent announcement of Life is Strange 2, this makes perfect sense as a pick. Hopefully this sort of addition upon the impending release of a sequel becomes standard for future games services. Also, you can't go wrong with either of the Humble Bundles out at the moment. Plenty of diversity there, with a lot of absolutely fantastic games. Finally, SpeedRunners on the Xbox One is a fantastically fun and fast local couch coop game. I personally enjoyed Dragon Age: Origins too, although I don't think it's for everyone. Check out the full list below. Here are the GAMES ON THE CHEAP for June 2017 Xbox Games With Gold Out from the 1st Assassin's Creed III – Xbox 360 SpeedRunners – Xbox One Phantom Dust free multiplayer DLC pack - Xbox One Out from the 16th Dragon Age: Origins – Xbox 360 Watch_Dogs – Xbox One https://youtu.be/0LRBtWN0bfs PlayStation Plus Life is Strange - PS4 Killing Floor 2 - PS4 https://youtu.be/5X665z7GepI  Humble Bundle Humble Adult Swim Games Bundle Pay what you want for: Small Radios Big Televisions WASTED Westerado: Double Barreled Volgarr the Viking Pay more than the average (of $7.40 at time of writing) to also unlock! GAMES ON THE CHEAP: APRIL 2017

Games with Gold, PlayStation Plus, Humble Bundle and more And just like that GAMES ON THE CHEAP has come back with some great games across the board! While there are a few standouts that I'm personally looking forward to playing, there are also a few games that I loved when I played them upon release that are on offer in April. My main recommendation here is picking up the HUMBLE Hooked on Multiplayer BUNDLE at the top tier (only USD$10). Not only will you get Helldivers, you'll also pick up Tricky Towers, a fun multiplayer take on Tetris. Then there is the HUMBLE Monthly BUNDLE giving away The Witness. PlayStation have gone two months in a row with one of their offerings being a newly released game, this time being (the long in beta but awesome looking) Drawn to Death. You also can't go wrong with the Xbox Live games, with the second season of Telltale's The Walking Dead being offered, among some classic gems. Check out the full list below. Here are the GAMES ON THE CHEAP for April 2017 Xbox Games With Gold Out from the 1st Darksiders – Xbox 360 Ryse: Son of Rome – Xbox One Out from the 16th Assassin's Creed Revelations – Xbox 360 The Walking Dead: Season 2 – Xbox One https://youtu.be/6sfRY8UFUEE PlayStation Plus Drawn to Death - PS4 Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime - PS4…
