While this week’s episode isn’t specifically about Jono or growing older and wiser I’d like to use this little corner of the internet to show our appreciation to Jono and his important involvement in keeping Versus Player playing. Our motto is games, life and everything in-between and more often than not life gets in the way of doing the things you love. We know that Versus Player gets lost in the big basket of gaming podcasts out there but it isn’t success, money or fame that has kept this podcast going for four years. It’s friendship.
There would be no VP without our boy Jono and while there are a plethora of reasons as to why I’d like to highlight the most important. Morale. The fact is that life and work can be rough for Joe and I. That isn’t to say it hasn’t been for Jono either but that’s the point. Each week (or fortnight) Jono shows up with a big smile on his face regardless of what’s going on deep behind that big scratchy beard. He stays positive, animated and captains the podcast like a boss. We don’t prepare show notes and that’s not out of laziness, it’s simply because it doesn’t work for us, it doesn’t feel genuine. Jono legitimately just rolls with it every week making each episode unique and REAL.
I think of VP as a high-school garage band. We aren’t mainstream but that’s not what we’re about man. We’re gonna keep doing this because we love it and we love you. Jono’s love for gaming and this podcast keeps it rolling and we can’t stop, won’t stop.
So regardless of when we record or if our Discord bot Craig decides to go on holiday and mess up episode or two it won’t matter because even if we lose a recording (happens more than you think) I know that Jono will be there each week. There to make us forget about the bad stuff of life and in-between and focus on the good.
Each week when Jono joins the Discord session we hear a brief little scratch of his beard through the mic before he talks and that makes us happy. It’s little things like that that keep it alive.
Happy Birthday Jono.
