Games on the Cheap: December 2020
Xbox Game Pass, Games with Gold, PlayStation Plus, Epic Games Store, Prime Gaming and more
With this being the second Games on the Cheap after a long while, I was super pumped to put this together and go through all the free games for December and all those games coming to the various subscription services (not “free” like many sites claim). Well, in true 2020 fashion, the offerings for December are a massive letdown.
There are a few nice additions coming to Xbox Game Pass, particularly Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age (the “S” stands for “Superfluous”), Call of the Sea and an Xbox Series X version of Destiny 2.
Over in PlayStation land, its a super poor month. For those of you with a new PS5, go get Bugsnax, which is sticking around on the service for a while.
If you want my honest pick, it would be to get the tried and true, recently free-to-play gem, Rocket League. For my money it is still is the best sports type game out there. Oh, and River City Girls, which was a late addition to Xbox Game Pass last month. That game is dope!
UPDATED: So there are a whole bunch of new additions to Game Pass that I just had to pop in here (in bold). Control has finally made its way to the service after Phil Spencer off-handedly spoke about it over a year ago. Doom Eternal on PC and Superhot: Mind Control Delete are big gets too.

So these PC games are completely free. Worth getting an account on your phone even if you don’t have a PC to take advantage of the freebies (just play them when you do). More games will be available throughout the month, so check here.
