We’ll know well in advance what Batfleck thinks of The Batman script.
Ben Affleck has come out and cleared the air about him directing the standalone Batman movie, The Batman. It’s not a sure thing that he’ll do so. In fact, his wording implies that if he doesn’t think the script is up to his high standards he won’t be the director.
“But it’s not a set thing and there’s no script. If it doesn’t come together in a way I think is really great I’m not going to do it.” The Guardian
So now if it is announced that The Batman has a different director, even if Ben Affleck says differently at the time, these words will make everyone just assume that he didn’t like the script.
On the other side of things though, with Ben Affleck’s directorial track record including some excellent movies, if he does go on to direct The Batman it will make expectations that much higher after what he has now said.
While the overall Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice experience was quite disappointing, Ben Affleck’s (happy to kill) Batman was a powerhouse and stole the show. Give us more of of that Arkham video game style fighting please!
